| The following is a brief
overview of applications of the Faradayic Process, in
each of Faraday’s Technology Groupings. Within each
Grouping there are a number of Tech Briefs that give
short explanations of each technology. For additional
details, please contact Faraday. |

Faradayic Electronics
Faraday has a concentration of technologies
related to deposition and etching processes for
electronic devices, including electrodeposition,
electrochemical planarization, non-contact
electropolishing, electrochemical etching, and
electrophoretic deposition for printed circuit
board, chip-scale/wafer-level packages, and
semiconductor-scale applications. Faraday’s
expertise in this industrial sector covers both
process development and the design and manufacture
of hardware that incorporates each process.

Faradayic Edge & Surface Finishing
As the use of hard, passive alloys increases in
manufacturing, the need to provide edge and
surface finishing of these materials is critical.
As the design complexity of parts increase, the
need for cost-effective, advanced techniques
increases as well. Faraday has significant
knowledge in utilizing high current
electrochemical process as a source for Edge and
Surface Finishing. Customized machines and modules
for Faradayic Edge & Surface Finishing are
also available. These processes have been proven
to:
- Process difficult-to-machine materials,
- Have removal rates as high as 0.1 to 10
mm/min,
- Have no tool wear,
- Successfully finish complex shapes and
contours,
- Eliminate unnecessary manufacturing steps,
- Use environmentally friendly electrolytes (NaCl
and NaNO3).

Faradayic Industrial Coatings
Faraday has expertise in industrial coating
process development, including alloy plating and
advancements in functional coatings and thermal
barrier coatings via electroplating and
electrophoretic deposition. Tech Briefs describing
Faraday’s achievements in each of these areas
are given below.

Faradayic Power
Faraday is focusing on low-cost production of MEAs
at mass production levels, by a reel-to-reel
electrodeposition process which is tunable to the
application specific cost-performance target. The
process is scalable and is tunable to produce
optimum catalyst loadings for each different fuel
cell application, further reducing cost and
improving catalyst utilization.

Faradayic Environmental Systems
Faraday utilizes electrical mediation for
in-process recycling of industrial effluent and
plating baths, and for remediation of soil and
groundwater. Many of Faraday’s services and
applications can come bundled with the in-process
recycling system.

Faradayic Corrosion and Monitoring
Faraday’s interest in the corrosion and
monitoring area is in three main areas: 1)
prediction of organic coating breakdown for aging
aircraft, 2) a sensor for monitoring corrosion in
hidden areas, and 3) a service capability for
atypical corrosion problems.
